What Does the Bible Say About Partying and Clubbing?
Lil Bro asks..What does the bible say about partying and clubbing?
Answer..The bible says “Don’t do it!” The bible refers to partying and clubbing as part of our “sinful nature” and goes on to say that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.(Galatians 5:18-21)
Romans 13:12-13 says, “The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living. Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Don’t participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, or in sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy.
This is not because God does not want us to have fun or hang out with our friends. He wants us to use wisdom and be an example for others. We ruin our own testimony by hanging out in these places, drinking, and engaging in ungodly behavior. By being at bars and clubs it may appear that we condone drunkenness and partying. How can we hang out with the devil on Saturday night and go to church Sunday morning as if nothing happened the night before? People are watching and our actions can cause someone else to stumble in their faith. (2 Corinthians 6:3)
Hanging out in clubs and bars only leads to temptation and destruction. I used to do the club scene too. There is nothing there for us any more. There is no positive influence or encouragement found in these places only drunkenness, dirty dancing, drugs, offensive music, fighting, lies, and regret.
The more you spend time with Jesus the more you will find that you will not even desires these things any more. You know in your heart that you are not called to be in those places. Jesus is coming soon we must be prepared at all times.
May our Lord give you strength and courage to accept the truth of His Word. In Jesus name..Amen

Dear sister,
Roman 12:2 from the New Living Translation say: “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect”.
To me that says it all, if you are asking it’s because the Holy Spirit is reminding you of what the Word has to say. Is it bad to go to partying at a lounge? No. Are you going to seem anti social if you don’t go? Maybe. It all depends on your friends and what they expect and think of you.
In order to maintain moral integrity in today’s society, (pure in your ways) it is going to be imperative that you absolutely make God’s Word your final authority. You are asking about legalism and legalism will restrict free choice. God has given us free choice but He also gave as the Journal (Bible), and as we continue in our Christian Journey we must always remember what the apostle John had to say in:
1 John 2: 15-17 - Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
I hope I was able to help you; Keep your eyes on Jesus and remember we are here for you. Much Love.
His Precious Gift.
Here is what another of our precious counselors had to say on the topic of legalism.
http://www.weusedtobeyou.com/2011/11/18/i-feel-like-i-am-being-convicted-of-doing-something-all-the-time/
Ok I asked about the lounge because I was invited to a party at a lounge and not sure whether or not to go. Am I being legalistic? I don’t want to seem anti social but I also want to be pure in my ways if that makes any sense
No there is nothing wrong with going to an event at a lounge. Sure there are many Christians involved in entertainment.
Whatever we do in this life we just need to be sure that we are being lead by the Spirit of God. He promises to guide and lead us all the days of our lives. There may times where we are invited to an event and we feel lead to participate and other times when we can feel the Spirit of God saying decline the invitation. God has given us His Spirit to guide and lead us. We must get into the Word of God and in prayer so we can learn to recognize the leading of the Holy Spirit. (Proverb 3:5-6, James 1:5, Isaiah 30:21, Jeremiah 42:3, John 14:26, Philippians 2:13, John 16:13)
I hope this helps. Stay on the narrow road
Sincerely,
Trophy of Grace
What about going to an event in a lounge? Also, can a christian be involved in entertainment? say as a show host on a popular music show or work as a dj?
Hello Brenda and thank you so much for writing into our website for advice. I see that you have read our response to ‘What Does the Bible say about Partying and Clubbing?’ Now you want to know if a school dance counts……
Well, I’ll say this….. A well supervised and chaperoned school dance would be okay to attend. Always remember that wherever you go and whatever you are a part of, you must take Jesus along with you. If your school dance has activities that your Savior prohibits you to be a part of then you should not be in attendance.
Also remember who you are and Who you belong to. You are a light in this dark world so you should always let your light shine as you represent Jesus in the right way. (Matthew 5:16) You are the salt that gives this tasteless world flavor. (Matthew 5:13)
Know the environment that you are about to go into and if it does not line up with the word of God, then you should not be a part of it. The bible says that we should seek first the Kingdom of God. (Matthew 6:33) So therefore we should put God first in everything that we do.
When you read ‘What Does the Bible say about Partying and Clubbing’ Daughter of Destiny said that God wants you to hang out and have fun with your friends but you have to use wisdom and be a good example to your friends. Remember that the way you present yourself and the life that you live should be an example to everyone around you.
Blessings to you always,
Precious in His Sight
Does a school dance count too?
Hello Ms.Transfored
We are so glad that you love the site. It is wonderful that you are growing in Christ. I will be happy to help answer your questions.
Let me begin right away by saying our salvation is not based on anything that we have done or will do. The only thing that we need to do to be saved is believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We are saved by grace. It is not something we earned or have to work at. Once saved always saved, if someone truly has accepted Christ as their Savior they cannot be plucked out of God’s hands. (John 3:16, Romans 10:9, Romans 3:28, John 10:28) Here’s a good article I read called ‘Can You Lose Your Salvation?’ You should read it. I think it will encourage you and give you some much need reassurance.

Regarding everything else I think 1 Corinthians 10:23 puts it best. It says,
“All things are legitimate [permissible--and we are free to do anything we please], but not all things are helpful (expedient, profitable, and wholesome). All things are legitimate, but not all things are constructive [to character] and edifying [to spiritual life].”
We are free to do things like the ones that you have mentioned above; however most of the things you mentioned do nothing to edify you in your walk with Christ. In fact some of the things may lead you right back into the world and you may not even realize it. For instance the drinking, if you used to drink a lot and get drunk, you should be careful with social drinking because before it used to be a stumbling for you. There is nothing wrong with having a drink if you are of legal age and if you are not drinking to get drunk. However you need to seek God in every situation and be led by His Spirit about whether or not you should have a drink at that social event or not. And yes you are right about the Word speaking about being sober. In fact it has a lot to say about alcohol abuse. If you follow this link you will see many scriptures about this.

About the music that you are listening to, I used to be into hip hop, rap, and r & b too. But most of that music glorifies drinking, partying, violence, having sex, materialism, gang banging, and other things that contaminate our minds. I used to be really into Biggie Smalls, Tu Pac, Snoop Dog, R-Kelly, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Ciara and all of them. The beats may be hot but most of the lyrics are straight garbage sister. If I am in the car flipping through the radio stations and I stop for a little bit on one of the secular stations and one of those Biggie songs comes on, I find myself starting to sing along and reminisce about a time and place that I don’t belong to any more. Be careful sister, the music that you are listening to can you take back to places in your mind where you don’t need to be anymore. I am reminded of something I heard Joyce Meyers say,
“Where the mind goes the man follows.”
There is some really good Christian music out there sister that has good beats too. Some of the groups I like are Group 1 Crew (they sing rap with dance beats), Mary Mary, Britt Nicole, Lecrae (Another rapper), Toby Mac, Sarah Reeves, Michelle Williams (She used to be with Destiny’s Child). There are so many great Christian artists out there.
Not all secular music is bad. I still like that old school R&B, especially on my date nights . But we need to be wise about what we allow into us through our eyes and ears. One of the sisters here in the ministry wrote a two part series called ‘Purity in Media’, you should take some time to read those postings also. Here’s a link to part one.

As far as the dancing, there is nothing wrong with dancing. Its how we dance I think that becomes the problem. All the bumping and grinding, thrusting of the hips, and moving like strippers is not becoming of a godly woman in public. We are daughters of the Most High God and we should carry ourselves accordingly, with honor, and self respect.
If you have accepted Jesus Christ has your Lord and Savior He has given you His Spirit to guide you and lead you all the days of your life. He has not left you alone without direction. The Holy Spirit and the Word of God (the bible) will show you what is right and wrong in your life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) He will guide you. You just have to trust Him. If you feel that something is not right for you to do, seek God’s Word out about the subject. Trust He will show, if you really want to see. He has said to us in James 1:5-8,
“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. 6 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. 7 Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.”
He has also said in Psalm 32:8
The LORD says, ‘I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.’
Sister I believe our Lord is doing a good work in you. Be encouraged because He has wonderful plans for your life. Keeping seeking to do His will and you will see that you will live a more abundant life.
Stay on the narrow road!
Sincerely,
Trophy of Grace
I love this website, yes i am changing and living for and in christ but i have a few questions in some areas that seem right but seem wrong!!! ok 1st I know clubbing is not in Gods will but wat if your friend or family member threw a party for examples your b day graduation celebration reception etc and they served alcoholic beverages and had it at a club would it be ok for me to attend and not lose salvation or any blessings 2nd is it ok to drink and not get drunk, 1 thing about me i use to drink heavy but now i dont drink like i use to because the word says be sober and i dont like the next day hang overs, but is it ok to drink a lil for example on a romantic date, a girls night out at a restaurant etc!3rd I like all types of music rap r&b gospel pop etc would listening and dancing to rap music take my salvation and blessings away! For example i like young jezzy gucci mane rick ross etc and yes there language is not good language but i have a crunk spirit where the beat is more enjoyable than the lyrics would i loose salvation and blessings for listening!! 4th i like to dance and im like a ciara type dancing girl would i loose salvation or blessings even if i do it in my own home with my family just to have fun! I need help i dont know the difference between sin and fun! It seems harmless but……. help me please Thank you!! O 1 more thing, i really dont care for the club and the heavy drinking anymore i just wanted to know what if i did those things but for good reason would i loose life!! One more thing about the music what if i went to a concert instead of a club or bar would that be the same!!
Thanks for sharing your comment sister! I am sure that our Lord will bring whoever needs to see it here. Stay on the narrow road!
I love the work you did here…Very encouraging and it really makes you realize that you have nothing to do in a place like this…What good can we find there…I used to go clubbing every weekend and all I got from that place was the fact that I started smoking, drinking, and hanging out with people that weren’t good for the relationship between God and myself, but thank God and his mercy I realize that wasn’t my place and that God had greater plans for me and thats when I decided to stop going. It wasn’t easy but God helped me, and today I hate Going to those places. So people I think if you are one of those who go to clubs and when you think about to stop going to those places and you say I can’t, I feel good there, what about my social life, the only thing I can tell you is that just pray to God tell him you want something better for your life than just clubs and let jesus into your life and he is going to start changing your life little by little and when you find out you wouldn’t want to go to clubs anymore because your life is full of Jesus…
Glory to God sister! We are always so blessed when we hear how God is using this ministry. Love your name!
thank you! i love her but we cnt be equally yoked.
