Saved By Faith Replied:

There is a big difference between liking and loving someone, and I’m glad to hear that you know the difference between the two and don’t say “I love you” to just anyone.  I know that for a teenager, emotions and hormones run wild, and it’s so easy to get caught up in saying something you don’t really mean. Love is a very powerful word and should not be used lightly. He probably likes you (a lot) but thinks ‘love’ is the appropriate word for it. First things first, be honest with him.

Let him know that you think he’s fun and you like hanging around him, but you don’t love him. If him saying ‘I love you’ makes you uncomfortable, you have to let him know. Try to speak to him in a neutral, calm way. It’s always easier to get your point across when you speak out of love instead of harsh words.

Proverbs 16:24
Kind words are like honey—sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.

Being honest is always the best way to go.

Truth shall spring up from the earth, and righteousness shall look down from heaven. Psalm 85: 11
