It’s horrible and i know that it hurts the Lord when i do it and its also having bad affects on my self-esteem & self-worth. It gives me feelings of worthlessness, guilt, & shame. And it’s also affecting my relationship with a good friend of mines because every time i fall i take out my frustration on him. This problem is horrible because i know its wrong but i cant stop. if theres any scriptures, words of encouragement, or advice please help i would REALLY appreciate it since i feel like im the only female who suffers from this… ::::Thanks::::

You are not the only one going through this. They are many others that go through this also. I too have battled with both of these addictions. I overcome these temptations by reminding myself that my body is the temple of God and that I do not want to defile it. The battle is really in our minds. We have to bring every thought under submission to the Word of God. As soon as the thoughts attack my mind I out loud rebuke them in the name of Jesus because I don’t want to fall into sin. I know that if I begin to listen to the perverted thoughts that try to tempt me that I will act on those thoughts. Instead, I choose to walk in the Spirit and practice self-control.
 The more I read the Word, the more my mind becomes renewed. You have to get into the Word of God. Allow it to renew and change the way you think. You will see that the more you put in the Word of God, the more your desires will change and line up with His will for your life.
When I first realized that this sin had a stronghold on me, I felt the same way you do, but I did not give up. I know that you won’t either or else you would not be writing us. You can overcome this. I promise you if you will submit yourself daily to the Lord, you can defeat this demonic attack. I just read an article from www.bible.com that is perfect for what you are going through. I know that it is long but PLEASE read it. I am sure that you will find it helpful.

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT… MASTURBATION?
 “What does the Bible say about masturbation?” is one of our most frequently asked questions. Many Christians have found it difficult to answer this question according to the Bible, because the Bible never mentions masturbation specifically. To understand how God feels about this subject, we must examine other verses that deal with issues such as lust, self-control and purity. Also, we must examine its fruit to see if it is from God. We have tried to address this issue by answering some of the most frequently asked questions. Our prayer is that God will use this page to bring freedom and deliverance. “Does God care about what we do in the privacy of our bedrooms?” Sex is God’s invention. He is the mastermind behind it—and His creation is worth far more to Him than it is to us. This beautiful expression of love was created out of His own heart, as a gift to be experienced between a husband and wife. It is only in marriage that this manifestation of intimacy can be fully enjoyed in the depth for which it was created.
“Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and the sexually immoral” (Hebrews 13:4, NIV). “Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge” (Hebrews 13:4, KJV).
The more beautiful and unique something is (like sexual intercourse), the more power it holds over our lives, either for good or bad influence. That is why it is so easy for the devil to corrupt the most precious of God’s gifts. When we become more in love with the gifts than the One who endowed them, the things that were designed to bless us begin to destroy us instead. Yes, God cares about what we do with our bodies, in public or in private. He doesn’t want us to abuse ourselves in any way. In fact, an older definition of masturbation is “self-abuse.” Although more modern dictionaries may no longer carry this definition, they are still linked together under self-abuse: Self-abuse nounÂą 1. Abuse of oneself or one’s abilities. 2. Masturbation. 1 Corinthians 6:18 (NIV) further confirms this, saying that unlawful sexual relations defile our own bodies.
“Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.” “Isn’t it still better to masturbate than to commit fornication?”
The easy answer to this question would be, “Yes, it is better to masturbate, because at best it corrupts only one person. It certainly is the lesser of two evils.” However, why would a loving, holy, all-powerful God abandon you to a situation in which you have to choose any evil, whether it be “lesser” or “greater?” To really answer this question, we must again go back to God’s original plan for sex. First of all, masturbation will not truly relieve the sexual pressure that one may feel. It may for a short moment, but in the long run it only creates a deeper desire and capacity for sex, which will lead to more masturbation. If you let yourself become enslaved to a sexual high, you will find that you need to go to increasingly extreme acts to maintain the same degree of excitement. There are even ungodly sex therapists who recommend masturbation as a way of increasing sexual desire, not lessening it. This creates a vicious circle, like the junkie who craves a “fix,” but is only temporarily satisfied. The more he indulges in his dependency, the more ensnared by addiction he becomes. This is the nature of all sin. That is why Jesus declared that all who sin become a slave to sin (John 8:34). Furthermore, masturbation usually involves fantasy, visualization, and often pornography. The Bible is very clear as to what God expects of us in these areas of fantasy and lust. It teaches that we must not look lustfully at each other nor should we behave in such a manner as to entice others to lust after us.
“I made a covenant with my eyes not to look with lust upon a girl. I know full well that the Almighty God sends calamity on those who do” (Job 31:1-3, The Living Bible). “You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart” (Matthew 5:28).
While the above verses refer to men lusting after women, all women know that it can very easily be reversed to apply to themselves as well. Men may be more easily visually stimulated than women, but women can be just as vulnerable to sexual fantasy in the emotional realm. Both are sin in God’s eyes , and both can be brought into subjection by controlling our thoughts through Christ’s power. All sexual immorality begins with a thought. A lustful thought not taken captive, will eventually lead to other perversions, because sin reproduces itself in increasingly greater measures. If we do not deal with our evil thoughts, they will take root in our hearts. It is for this reason that God is so concerned with our thought life. Jesus came not only to deliver us from our “outward” sins, but also from wickedness that begins in the heart.
“Isn’t God unreasonable to demand sexual purity after giving us sexual drives that seem to overwhelm us at times?”
Our loving God never demands from us what is impossible for us to do. We are so weak within ourselves that it may seem impossible, but He will equip us with His holy power to overcome any sin, if we ask in faith. Of course, sexual urges in and of themselves are not wicked. They are natural. God created us that way. He desires that we get optimum pleasure out of them by using them the way they were created to be used. However, many desires for physical gratification (whether it be food, sex, etc.) stem from a deeper need that is unfilled deep inside us. Gorging our flesh can never fill a hunger that grows out of our spirit. Only intimacy with God can fill the deepest needs inside of us. No other created thing has that power. God is no more unreasonable than any caring parent who lovingly disciplines their child. It is only because He knows what is best for us. He sees a mighty potential in each one of us that far supersedes our wildest dreams, and He loves us enough to do all He can to bring it to pass.
“I agree with all the theory, but living it out on a day to day level is another story.”
This is the place where we need the empowerment of the Holy Spirit in our everyday lives. The Holy Spirit is not a vague “force,” but the very power of God to comfort you and strengthen you against the sins that used to rule you before you were born again. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we have the very ability that Jesus had to resist temptation. He depended completely upon the Father and so must we. Something you must know is that God is not the one who is tempting you in this area to “test” you. God is on your side and wants to set you free from these things, not lead you into them!
“When tempted, no one should say “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed” (James 1:13-14).
God wants us to overcome every sin and temptation in our lives. Please slowly read the following verses and let their message seep deep inside your spirit.
“No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it” (1 Corinthians 10:13). “For though we live in the world we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:3-5). “In the same way count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. For sin shall not be your master for you are not under law but under grace” (Romans 6:11-14). “For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:15-16, King James Version). “Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God” (2 Corinthians 7:1). “Can I really be set free?” “In (this) freedom, Christ has made us free—completely liberated us; stand fast then, and do not be hampered and held ensnared and submit again to a yoke of slavery—which you have once put off ” (Galatians 5:1 Amp).
If you are in a real struggle with any form of sexual sin, we do not believe it was by accident that God led you to this teaching. He wants to set you free, starting right now! We would like to share several things that you can do to break loose from this stronghold:
1. Confess this sin first to God, then go to a committed Christian you trust, such as your pastor. Ask God to lead you to someone that you can be accountable with, who will be faithful to pray with you and for you. This will take humility on your part, but it will lead to life. James 5:16 says: “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” (You may not feel “righteous” but if you have admitted your sin to God and received His forgiveness, you are! That means your prayers are powerful and effective!)
 2. Flee from and reject anything that aggravates this sin. For example, you may need to get off the Internet for a season or purchase software that blocks out pornography. This may sound too drastic, but it certainly is mild compared to Jesus who said, “If your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body, than for your whole body to go into Hell” (Matthew 5:30). His point was that we must be willing to part with anything that causes us to sin—even if it hurts temporarily.
3. You may need to seek healing and deliverance from qualified Christians who are anointed in this area of ministry. If you have been deeply involved in sexual sins, the devil probably has a stronghold in that area of your life. If you can, find some people who can help you stand against the devil, for he is the one who seeks to lead you into temptation, and whispers lies of hopelessness and shame into your ears. If he drops a filthy thought into your mind just when you are trying to pray (he has used this tactic on even the holiest saints of God), tell him to leave in the name of Jesus! Recognize his voice for what it is, and submit yourself to God. As you do this and resist the devil, he will flee from you! He is deathly afraid of those who are submitted to God in brokenness and humility.
4. Don’t give up! Deliverance might take time. Self-control takes effort. You may slip occasionally—or even a lot. But remember that God loves you and He will be faithful to perfect His character in you as long you keep submitting to Him. Eventually you will win—and not because of your best efforts, but because of God’s mercy (Titus 3:5). Just as salvation is received in faith, so deliverance must be received in faith. This has nothing to do with our character, strength, or failings. The only thing it is dependant upon is you receiving it in humility. If you should fail, recognize it quickly, ask God to forgive you—and then receive His forgiveness! He is faithful to do that which He promised, not just in a select few mighty men and women of God, but in all who ar e willing to come humbly before Him. That includes you!
We want to encourage you to hold on to this scripture as your anchor:
“May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and He will do it” (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24).

Absolutely to God be the glory, sister. Without Him, none of us would have any hope or victory, but with Him, we can do all things! (Phil. 4:13) Remember that in Him, we are all new creations; the old things have passed away, and all things are new (II Cor. 5:17). Even when we fall, by His grace we are not utterly cast down (Pr. 24:16, Ps. 37:24). We confess our sins, and He forgives and forgets them. But more than that, He is renewing us day by day, changing us to be more like Him (II Cor. 4:16). Find your confidence and strength in the fact that Jesus died to free us from sin, and because of Him, we can continually choose to live in that freedom and to refuse to take our old bondages back (Gal. 5:1). We won’t be perfect, but we can have perfect peace in the process if we keep the eyes of our heart fixed on Him and keep walking and living by faith (Is. 26:3, II Cor. 5:7).
You do not have to go through this on your own. So many people have come forward and shared their struggles in this area. It’s just like it says in the first part of I Cor. 10:13, “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man….” Don’t ever let the enemy trick you into thinking that you are alone in this sin, or that you can’t find support. That’s how we’re kept powerless—when we’re isolated and ashamed. The Lord is faithful to reach out to us with His mercy, and to provide others to help share our burdens (Lam. 3:22-23, Gal.6:2). But the best ally we have is the Holy Spirit, Who gives us the will and ability to say no to sin. And believe it, there will be a way, just as the second half of I Cor. 10:13 says, “…but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” Keep fighting the good fight in this area, praying for God’s full deliverance, and renewing your mind so that it conforms to God’s will (Rom. 12:1-2). In time, you will see victory; until then, keep praising and thanking God in all things. It will help keep things in perspective—His greatness is infinitely bigger than any problem in our lives.
Also remember that whatever was awakened when you lost your virginity, God does more than forgive you. He also quiets you with His love, and rejoices over you with singing (Zeph. 3:17). I heard it explained once that it’s God’s way of singing those desires back to sleep until they are awakened again at the right time, in marriage. As you continually commit to stay pure and not defile yourself, you can be assured that God makes all things new, including your chastity (Is. 43:19). Give yourself fully to the One Who is able to keep what you have committed to Him for as long as you need, even until eternity (II Tim. 1:12). He is able to keep you from falling, He is faithful, and He will do it (Jude 24, I Thess. 5:24). We love you, sister, and the Lord loves you more than you can even imagine! hi sisters in christ! i feel so blessed having stumbled upon this website while doing my usual surf.
i am also struggling in the same area in my life right now. every now and then i ask for forgiveness from the Lord but i seem to falter a lot and give in to the desires of my weak flesh. i actually have not talked to anyone about this, even my closest family members who share the same faith because i have my fears and reservations so i silently pray about it and repent. i just pray the Lord will strengthen me more in battling with these impure thoughts. i honestly believe this began when i lost my virginity to my ex-boyfriend. i had opened doors and crossed lines even before God had willed them to be opened and crossed and so i had become vulnerable to these temptations. 
however i would like to thank you for this answer and for sharing God’s word. i feel more encouraged and comforted after having read this. i have added this site to my bookmarks. your articles are very helpful and encouraging. let us keep the faith

Thanks for being so brave to talk about what you’re going through. A wise woman recently shared with me the verse from Rev. 12:11, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” When we’re bold to speak out about the Lord and what He is doing in our lives, we are giving others hope, and “Hope does not disappoint, because the love of God is poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, Who was given to us” (Rom. 5:5). I pray that even right now you have a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit in your heart, and that He fills you with His love, peace, and joy in Jesus’ name.
I want you to absolutely put out of your mind the feeling that you are not worthy to pray because you may have fallen into sin. First of all, we’re commanded to pray without ceasing (I Thess. 5:17). How else are we going to get forgiveness, or the power to overcome sin, if we can’t ask it of God? It won’t happen. Also, we don’t ever approach God in prayer because we are so holy or because we have done good works. It’s only because we are Christ’s, and have put on His righteousness, that we can boldly go before God and give Him our requests (II Cor. 5:21, Heb. 4:15-16). Once we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior, He conveys His righteousness and right standing before God onto us, and it never has to do with whether we have sinned or whether we’re a saint (Rom. 3:21-28). Galatians 2:21 says, “If righteousness came by the law, then Christ died in vain.” It is absolutely wrong to think that we could commit a sin that would be too big to be covered by Jesus’ death on the cross. So let it go and receive God’s complete and total forgiveness! He promises not to remember your sin anymore, and to cleanse you from it (Heb. 10:17, Ps. 103;12, I John 1:9) If you fall again, it’s like it was the first time. He keeps no record of wrongs! (Ps.130:3-4) No matter what you do, or what you’ve done, you are justified in God’s sight. It’s the sanctification process that can be painful!
Sometimes, breaking the bondage of stronghold sin takes a long time, maybe even years, and we might even see echoes of our former behavior occasionally over the course of our whole lives. The apostle Paul struggled with something in his life, and prayed three times for the Lord to remove it, but God allowed it to remain, because it kept him humble and dependent upon Him (II Cor. 12:7-10). I’m not saying that this will be your situation. I hope and pray that the Lord Jesus sets you completely free in this area of your life, and I would encourage you to pray for that freedom and healing. But if the Lord does allow it to be a process, then accept it as part of His perfect plan (Ps. 18:30). The Lord knows our weaknesses, He has already seen where and when we are going to fall, and yet He loves us and wants to continue making us more like Him. Nothing is hidden from Him; He just wants you to love Him and walk humbly with Him as He works in you to will and to do His good pleasure (Heb. 4:13,15, Micah 6:8, Phil. 2:13). Trophy of Grace and I have been talking lately about how the Lord chooses the foolish things of the world (like us, and all of our shortcomings) to confound the wise (I Cor. 1:27). The Lord doesn’t use perfect people, He uses those who are willing to serve Him despite their struggles.
I really got the feeling from your posting that you might be struggling with shame, and I want to encourage you that any feelings of shame you might have are not from God! Shame causes us to feel unworthy, unusable, and unloved, and that is NOT how God sees us! Shame is distinguished in II Cor. 7:10-11 from true guilt, which motivates us to change, to move away from sin, and to become a testimony of God’s grace in our lives. The enemy wants to keep us ashamed, because it keeps us isolated and makes us believe that nothing will ever be different. Don’t believe those lies! When Jesus died on the cross, He carried our shame for us, and He defeated sin in the flesh, making a spectacle of it! (Col. 2:14-15, Heb. 12:2) We may still struggle with sin, because we’re not yet free from our human fleshly body, but we’re not condemned because of it. You need to be strong and stand in the truth, that “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death” (Rom. 8:1-2). You are not a slave to sin; if you belong to Jesus Christ, then you are a slave to righteousness, and you can look forward to the day when you are living in the freedom He gives His children, and you will testify to others of His word that “If the Son has set you free, then you are free indeed” (John 8:36, Rom. 6:18-19).
I would like to join you in prayer to ask for the Lord’s deliverance for you and for everyone who is struggling with stronghold sin. I pray in the name of Jesus that He would show Himself mighty to save on your behalf, and that by His power and His grace, you will have the victory that overcomes the world, because greater is He that is in you than He that is in the world. I pray that He will break the gates of bronze, and cut the bars of iron in two, that He will send His word and heal you, and that He will restore your soul and give you His peace for despair, strength for fear, and gladness for mourning. I know that Jesus hears our prayers, and that we have what we have asked for, because we do His will. I praise You, Lord Jesus, for Your love, Your greatness, and Your faithfulness to Your people. It’s a wonderful thing you have done. I’ve also battled with these same things, i was able, with God’s help to stop my addiction to pornography, but i still struggle with masturbation…
I pray for help and i seem to get it, God does help me and then a few weeks later i do it again, and i feel so horrible afterwards, i don’t even feel worhty enough to pray.
I’ve planned to pray to ask God to help me overcome this addiction once and for all.

From the way you responded to this situation, it’s apparent that you have had a very difficult time, but you have not turned away from your faith in God and His loving power at work in your life. We are very thankful to see your testimony, for several reasons. First, you have seen that even in the midst of trials and despair, you can trust in God’s great deliverance (II Cor. 1:9-10), and second, you are able to comfort others with the comfort you received from God, which gives them proof of their hope that they, too, will be delivered (II Cor. 1:3-7).
For anyone suffering in bondage to sin, we want to you to know that by His death on the cross and His resurrection, Jesus has truly triumphed over sin and its power in our lives (Col. 2:11-15). When we accept His sacrifice for as payment for our sins, He sets us truly free from what has had us bound (John 8:36). The Bible explains it this way, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me.” (Gal. 2:20) For some more encouraging reading, there is a beautiful story of God’s deliverance found in Psalm 107 that describes how He frees people from the prison of their sins. We have seen this firsthand, and are living proof that Jesus saves! By His grace, we pray that you will live victoriously in Him until we are all in the presence of His glory. I've struggled with this & much worse, and I came to the point where I realized I could not overcome it with my own strength. Only God, could and that it's such a small/easy thing for him because he is all powerful. You have to trust in Him that means in the mist of the storm getting on your knees & waiting on him. EVERY TIME I HAVE WAITED ON HIM HE HAS NEVER LET ME DOWN NOT ONCE! There is hope! Phileo.

I tell you the truth, that the enemy is being weakened the very second you recognize you need help and you need it from God! Trust that you admitting you need Gods help with your problem has already done so much for you.
I tell you this is something that I for years had been dealing with also, along with partying and all sort of worldly lusts, but know that God has already given us the power to free ourselves of things things. Through Jesus Christ we are given great power with our words, realize there is a spirit of perversion, and rebuke it in the name of Jesus.
I’m new to the faith, but our generation ministry had a retreat where people were freed of so many things, including the spirit of perversion, trust in that power that God has already given you. You are His daughter, by seeking help His ear and His hand is already to you, now be specific.
I will pray for you also, that Jesus the Lord, with all power over all things, frees you of those lustful thoughts and desires, and furthermore that you have affirmation that NOTHING can take you away from God, not even things you feel ashamed about, and I pray that the Lord also free you of shame, because who the son sets free is free indeed, you are FREE, no bondage to shame, to desires, to lust or anything else, I’m sure everyone else is in agreement too, that you have complete freedom and renewal in Jesus name, Amen. O my sweet Deborah..Your determination and faith have encouraged me this morning. I am so happy that you are using the Word of God to defeat this enemy. You are more than a conqueror and my certainly the Holy Spirit that lives in you is more powerful than any demon, spirit, or principality that will come against you.
Continue to fight and you will when this battle, because Jesus already won the war. You just have to continue to know that you are not a weak victim to this problem, you are a soldier of the Almighty under attack. The enemy wants to keep you burdened and ashamed so that you can not be a useful weapon in the army of God.
Glory to our Lord for his Word and Holy Spirit that lead is into the Truth and Freedom that Jesus died to give us. Go and sin no more, live your life abuduntly in Christ Jesus.

I have been following the advice giving to me and thank God that I have been improving with the help of His Holy spirit. I feel so much better ad liberated. I also have been freed from the shame that I have begun testifying and speaking to other females about this. I no longer feel as if I am the only one whos been through this.
God is SO good because He put woman in my path who understand and do not judge me.I finally got the courage to tell someone about this and they have helped me to pray and fast and I found out that they to have been through it 2!!!

ANd AMEN thank you for the response Trophy of Grace for the Lord has told me about the sword He has given me and how I have not been using it to fight…this has been told to me twice by the layig of hands from 2 different preachers so I completley understand what u mean…:)

dear anonymous. i just wanted to say that your definately not alone. it takes great courage to write this, but i must. i too have been going through the same problems. for more than four years. however i have been able to resist these urges since the start of this year. this may sem like a liitle accomplishment to some but for me its not. i cant explain how good i have been feeling, the temptations do come but i immediately cast every evil thought out of my mind. i know that its only because of God. like me you need to remember that you cant do this alone. all the advice given to you by trophy of grace will definately help you to live an abundantly clean, spirit filled, guilt free christian life. which the devil does not want. continue the good fight of faith and know that Jesus loves you despite whatever u have done. your deeds dont make you earn his love! he loves you UNCONDITIONALLY

I just want to make it clear to you and remind you that you are not the only one who goes through. Many have overcome this addiction and others trusting and relying on the Lord for help. It is in our weakness that He makes us strong. But you have to rely on His Word. The Word is the sword the tears down strongholds. It has power to overcome anything. But your sword is no good if it is just sitting in it’s sheath. Pull it out!! Then no weapon formed against you will prosper.

I thank God that i found this site and I know that I have to take it day by day and just ask the Holy spirit to help me daily. Thank you for the article it has a lot of good information and I really did feel so much better knowing that you also had to battle this so i know you understand.
