Is It Wrong To Go To College Parties If You Don’t Drink?

Is it wrong to go to college parties if you don’t drink or wear reavealing clothing?

“The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living. Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Don’t participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, or in sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy.” Romans 13:12-13

When reading this verse in my bible it references Ephesians 5:11 which says, “Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them.”

If you are a Christian then the answer is clear. We are to take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness. We are children of light who are called to separate ourselves from indecency. We don’t belong to darkness and night and that’s usually when all the parties go down. (1 Thessalonians 5:4-8)

A lot of these college parties are full of drugs, drinking, fornicating, dirty dancing, and half naked people. Our Lord does not want us to participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness. Although you are not drinking or wearing revealing clothing you don’t belong there any more. If you are a born again believer then you are a new creation in Christ Jesus the old has gone and the new has come. You have to throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by the world and its ways. Instead, you must allow the Spirit of God that lives in you to renew your thoughts and attitudes by the Word of God. Then you can put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy. (Ephesians 4:22-24, Romans 12:2)

The fact that you are even asking this question is evidence that the Spirit of God is already talking to you about this. I assure you that this question is coming from a desire in you that longs to please God. Don’t ignore it..Come out of the party scene. I will be praying for your strength to do what the Spirit is calling you to do.
