Hello Deborah,

coupleindisputeI am a person with lots of pride. I discovered it when I realized that I find it very difficult to be the same person after some kind of hurt from them. I get hurt very quickly.

In spite of praying hard my flesh is very strong. I find it very diffcult to forgive my husband because difference in our characters and his selfish nature. I love to be social but he wants to be in his rut . I have high expectations from my children but he refuses to cooperate.I am very helping to others but he just doesn’t care much.Otherwise he is very commmitted to the family but I get frustrated with the differences.

Trophy of Grace replies…

I am in for Deborah. My name is Trophy of Grace. I pray that the Lord would give me His Words to speak to you.

“No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what He requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8

53138931_favproverbs1618Sister pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall. (Proverbs 16:18)Don’t allow yourself to be full of pride because it is dangerous and will lead to God’s punishment. The Lord detests the proud; they will surely be punished is what Proverbs 16:5 says. Repent of your proud heart and bind that spirit of pride that has attached it’s self to you. Ask the Lord to give you a humble heart. (Proverbs 21:4)

Colossians 3:12-15 is a word that our Lord has given to me over and over again. He has given it to me when I find myself easily offended or hurt, and let down by expectations that I PUT on others. He gives me this word to remind me to clothe myself in love instead of pride.

“Since God chose you to be the holy people He loves, you MUST clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive ANYONE who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so YOU MUST forgive others. ABOVE ALL, CLOTHE YOURSELVES WITH LOVE, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. AND LET THE PEACE that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.” Colossians 3:12-15

following-jesus-where-is-he-going-philippians-1-6I understand what you are saying about your husband. When I sit and meditate on all the things that are different about my husband and I, I begin to feel frustrated too because my perspective is distorted by what I think he should be. We need to allow our husbands to be who they are and let the Lord change their hearts, attitudes, and thoughts. After all it is His Word, not ours, that will renew their minds. Also, remember that the same Holy Spirit that ministers to us ministers to them too. We have to trust our Lord because I am certain that God, who began the good work within our husbands and us, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. (Philippians 1:6)

Start meditating on all of your husband’s good attributes and thank God for him daily. You have a father for your children and husband who most surely loves you. Pray for him all the time and ask God to change your heart about all of this.

Also, I want to encourage you to read Romans 6 and really meditate on it. You said that your flesh is very strong, but you need to know that you are no longer a slave to sin or your flesh. Sometimes people don’t realize that they have freedom in Christ Jesus and they stay in bondage to whatever sin is hindering them. You have the Spirit of the Living God in you and the Spirit of God is more powerful than any demonic spirit or influence in this world. It’s time for you to walk in the freedom that Christ Jesus died to give you sister. As you read Romans 6 I pray the Lord give you ears to hear and eyes to see that sin’s power is broken in your life.

“We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.” Romans 6:5

Start really meditating on the Word of God day and night and you will see that your mind will be renewed and transformed by it. You will begin to see life’s situations through the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:16)

I will be praying for you and your family. Be blessed and be diligent in seeking God’s face.

Sincerely,

Trophy of Grace
