I Don’t Know How To Go On
Myspace friend writes,
I’m so lost and confused right now. My husband just recently left. my dog just died. Life just doesn’t seem worth the effort anymore. I pray and I read my bible and I try to tak to God and do whats right but I can’t keep going like this. My husband says he still loves me and he misses me. I want to work things out but he says he doesn’t. I’ve prayed and prayed about it but the longer he’s gone the worse it hurts. I don’t feel like God is with me much less that He hears me. and then I feel guilty for feeing that way. I don’t know how to go on.
My dear friend,
Please donāt despair. God feels your pain. We are never far from Him, because He never leaves us or forsakes us (Heb. 13:5). We can feel lost, rejected, hopeless, unloved…but because of God, none of those things are true. Thatās why He sent Jesus to us, so we would know both how much He loves us, and how much He understands our suffering. When we are feeling so low, we HAVE to run to Him. Thereās no one and nothing else that can help. Peter said it best in John 6:68 when he said, āLord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life.ā There isnāt anything else out there for us but to live for, love, and trust in Him.
Itās so hard when everything just falls apart around us, and we want to give up, turn away from God, and run from the pain. This is what the enemy wants us to do, because then we are going away from the One Who will help and going toward the things that will trap us and put us into bondage. Really, Satan doesnāt have to do much sometimes, except get us to believe our own feelings and thoughts. If he can keep us overwhelmed, upset, depressed, hopeless, unforgiving, and isolated, thatās more than enough to keep us deluded from the truth of Godās love and His promise that ALL things will work together for good, and that NOTHING can separate us from His love (Rom. 8:28-39).
You have to stay in the Word right now. You have to fill your mind and your spirit with all the promises of God, and let His words renew your mind (Rom. 12:1-2). You have to listen to His voice speaking to you through the storm, telling you to be still, and allow Him to carry these burdens for you (Ps. 46:10, Matt. 14:27, I Peter 5:7). If you donāt press in to Him, you will sacrifice the peace He wants to give you (John 14:27). Let God show you that He is for you, and not against you (Rom. 8:31). He has good plans for you, and He wants you to have an abundant life through Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit (Jer. 29:11, John 10:10). He has unending grace and love to give you, and He will supply everything you need in this life (Phil. 4:19, Heb. 4:16).
This life is going to give us trials and tribulations, and we are going to hurt. Itās what we choose to do in each of those moments that makes the difference between victory and defeat. God wants you to have victory, because Jesus already claimed it for you! (John 16:33) No weapon formed against us has to prosper when we are in Christ (Is. 54:17). Whatever the enemy wants to use for evil in our lives, God will use for good (Gen. 50:20). This is a terribly difficult season for you, but God will bring you through it. You have to walk by faith, not by sight, and let Him lead you according to His wisdom, not your own (Prov. 3:5-6, II Cor. 5:7). If we try to rescue ourselves, weāll find ourselves sinking into the waves around us. But if we keep our eyes on Him, He will allow us to rise above our troubles and see His strong deliverance (Ps. 18:2, 31:3,144:2, Is. 41:10,13).
My friend, this is one of those make it or break it times. We have to hold on to our hope in God, because itās the anchor of our souls (Heb.6:19, Rom. 5:5). Donāt give up, but cry out to God, knowing that He hears you and answers your prayer the moment you prayed it (Daniel 10:12, I John 5:15). Sometimes it takes time to see what that answer is, but we know that whatever He says, itās for our good and born from His love for us. I pray that you will surrender your heart to Jesus and His will for you, and know that in His salvation, there is everlasting love and security waiting for you. Let Him hold you in the palm of His high and mighty right hand, and shelter you in the shadow of His wings (Ps. 91:4, Is. 41:13). Let Him cover you with His love and quiet you with His singing over you (Zeph. 3:17). This season will not last, and it does not have to destroy you or your faith. Turn your heart and your hope to God, and watch how mightily He will show Himself on your behalf.
Please let us know how you are doing, and we will pray for you. Also, there is an awesome song by Fireflight that I have listened to over and over because it talks about how we have to hold on to Godās promises and not give up…itās called You Gave Me a Promiseāhere it is below the link to it on YouTubeā
