My School Is Having A Valentine’s Ball And I Don’t Think It’s Very Godly

bigstockphoto_young_students_dancing_with_jo_4732406Thanks comments on the posting, What Does The Bible Say About Clubbing?

Thank you for this. My school is having a Valentine’s ball and I dont want to go cuz I dont think its very godly. Even though it’s a ‘christian’ school, people are very hypocritical. They grind and date and listen to gross music just because they like the beat or cuz everyone likes it. I told my sister but she thinks I’m wrong. What do I tell her. Sometimes I think I’m so good but then my sister starts saying stuff and I’m like am I as good as I think I am? So please HELP!!

His Precious Gift replies…

Wise decisions are made by discerning the will of God, and God reveals His will to those willing to do His will.James 1:22 says,

“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”

God talks to us by His Word (the bible) and by the leading of the Holy Spirit. John 16:13 says, “The Spirit of truth… will guide you into all truth” And Psalms 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path” Psalms 119:105.

I can see that you are fighting between doing what the Spirit is leading you to do and what other people are saying, Galatians 1:10 says, “Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ servant.”

My sister don’t let the pressures of this world break your relationship with the Most High, obviously you know what the Word says and what your heart is telling you to do. Do the right thing. Going to this party is going to make you miserable because you know what is going to be like. Also every action has consequences for good or for bad. Be strong and tell your sister to respect your decision of not attending the party. Tell her that your heart’s desire is to please God. And that you do not want to place yourself in a tempting situation. I will pray for your sister to understand your decision. I am so proud to be able to help you as we grow together in His Word.

Love You Much,

His Precious Gift
