Sometimes People Can Be So Irritating!

But sometimes people can be so irritating! I pray but then it’s just like I can’t take it. Then I will just be silent. There is nobody that is there, and my school is supposedly ‘christian’! I don’t know what to do. And still, what do I talk to them about?

Trophy of Grace replies…

From the moment I read your response I immediately remember the Word the Holy Spirit gave me when I was finding myself irritated by those around me. He gave me Colossians 3:12-17

bigstockphoto_cherry_blossoms_ho-1“12 Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. 13 MAKE ALLOWANCE FOR EACH OTHER’S FAULTS, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. 14 Above all, CLOTHE YOURSELVES WITH LOVE, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. 15 And LET THE PEACE THAT COMES FROM CHRIST RULE IN YOUR HEARTS. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And ALWAYS BE THANKFUL.

16 LET THE MESSAGE ABOUT CHRIST, in all its richness, FILL YOUR LIVES. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. 17 AND WHATEVER YOU DO OR SAY, DO IT AS A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE LORD JESUS, giving thanks through him to God the Father.”

I believe that He is trying to train you in this situation. He wants you to learn to love those that are not so easy to love. He wants you to learn to see them through His loving eyes. He wants you to reach out to them with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. He wants you to make allowances for their faults. No one is perfect, none of us.

Sister you have got to ask God to help you with this. Reject that judgemental spirit. You do not have to submit to it. Instead submit to the Spirit of Love that lives inside of you. Meditate on these verses above and allow His Word to transform your thinking. Learn to clothe yourself in love. Remind yourself that we are all in different places spiritually and allow His peace to rule in your heart. (Romans 12:1-2)

Be thankful for the opportunity that God is giving you to reach out to these people. Let the message of Christ fill your life. The message was about forgiveness and love. He proved His love for us by dying on the cross for us while we were still sinners. Show them the same love and lay down your feelings of judgment and love them right where they’re at.

It’s ok to be silent. You don’t have to always have words. When you do talk, talk about your interests with them. Talk about life. Just listen and ask God to give you the words to speak to them. Be lead by the Spirit. He will give you the words to speak at just the right time. Be patient with yourself. Don’t allow yourself to get frustrated over this. This is a time of training for you. You are doing well by seeking godly counsel.

We will be praying for you sister!

Many blessings to you sister in Christ Jesus,

Trophy of Grace
