Is It Ok To Make The First Move?
Anonymous asks…
Hi, is it okay to make the first move, even if you don’t tell him you like him, but more like befriending him. Or is it totally wrong and you just wait and pray?

Well, it has become quite common in today’s culture for women to pursue the man. However, I recently did an interview with a group of Christian men who did not seem to like the women to pursue them. They did not like the idea of a woman coming off too forward. I too personally believe it is much more romantic for a man to pursue a woman, wooing her-trying to gain her affection.
Praying and seeking God’s will is always the best thing and the number one thing we should do. When we pray and seek the Lord He will guide and lead us down the right path EVERY TIME. We have to trust Him with all of our heart and lean not on our own understanding. When we go about doing what He leads us to do we will avoid unneccesary heart ache. Remember that He knows what is best for us and knows the desires of hearts. He will give us the desires of our heart, when we delight ourselves in Him. (Matthew 6:33, Proverbs 3:5-6, Psalm 37:4)
Friendship first is always important. It provides an opportunity to get to know someone and check out their character without the pressures of dating. Just be sure that you don’t allow the friendship to consume you and take your focus off of what God has for you. That is why it’s important to pray first and leave it up to the Lord. He is the one that orchestrates love. Let Him have His way..
For the month of February our topic will be on dating. I think this will help you.
In the mean time I will give you a couple of articles from our archives that we will be revisiting this next month. I pray that they speak to your heart.
The first one is Dating, Mating, & Waiting and the second one is Mission for Mr.Right.
Sincerely,
