Nothing But The Blood Of Jesus
“Then Moses called for the leaders of Israel and said, âTell each of your families to slaughter the lamb they have set apart for the Passover. Drain each lambâs blood into a basin. Then take a cluster of hyssop branches and dip it into the lambâs blood. Strike the hyssop against the top and sides of the doorframe, staining it with the blood. And remember, no one is allowed to leave the house until morning. For the Lord will pass through the land and strike down the Egyptians. But when he sees the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe, the Lord will pass over your home. He will not permit the Destroyer to enter and strike down your firstborn.” – Exodus 12:21-23 NLT
What does Passover and Easter mean to you?
Is it simply another season that the world celebrates?
Is it a reason to go out and buy chocolate shaped bunny rabbits, chocolate eggs filled with cream or marshmallow shaped baby chicks covered in colored sugar?
To me, Easter is all about the Blood of Jesus that was shed as He was crucified, placed on a wooden cross, died and then resurrected after being dead for three days, all so that my spirit will live for eternity even after my body has shut down and died.
I know that the death and the resurrection can be a bit confusing. Yet, if it was done in a simpler more worldly way, would we really believe that it was God? What man can bring another man back to life after being dead for three days? Who has the power to do such a thing?
The Lord God Almighty!!
Look at how He protected the Israelites when they were trying to leave Egypt to get to the promise land that God had waiting for them.
In the book of Exodus it talks about Passover in which we celebrate right before Easter. In this time Moses was chosen to free the Israelites from slavery in Egypt but the Pharaoh was giving him a hard time. Pharaoh did not want to let the Israelites go. God performed many supernatural acts to cause Pharaoh to want to let the Israelites go, but he refused after each act. The final power of God Almighty was the Passover (Exodus 12). This was when God gave Moses instructions to tell all of the Israelite to sacrifice a lamb, use the blood of that lamb to mark the doors of their home so that the Destroyer (who is the angel of death) would pass over their home. He did this as a protection for His people.
The lamb is like a symbol of Jesus. The blood that Jesus shed on the cross represents that Passover blood. Jesusâ blood that was shed has so much authority that when we are spiritually covered in it, the enemy can come upon us but the blood will cause him to pass over us. That Passover blood that Jesus shed for us has so much power that when we are spiritually clothed in it fear and anxiety will just pass right on by us. We may become anxious or scared, but when we remember what we are spiritually covered by the blood of Jesus, Who died for us, then we can have the joy and peace that we ourselves can not even understand.
Philippians 4:6-7; Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
The book of Proverbs chapter thirty one, talks about a virtuous woman who was highly respected and loved by her family as well as her community. It say, Proverbs 31:21-22 N(IV) “When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet. She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.”
The bible does not give her a name but it speaks of her character and it calls her Noble. It says that she is strong, energetic and a hard worker. The bible also says how she makes sure that her family is dressed in scarlet so that they may be protected from the snow.
The snowy weather is cold and can sometimes be uncomfortable, yet this noble woman of the book of Proverbs makes sure that her family is clothed in scarlet, so that they may be warm and protected.
God wants us to adorn ourselves spiritually in the blood of Jesus so that we never have to fear and we will be protected from whatever comes our way. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior we are delivered from our life of slavery to sin giving us freedom so that when spiritual death comes it will only pass over us. So then it is up to us to spiritually dress ourselves in scarlet daily.
How do we do this?
By asking God daily to cover us in the blood of Jesus, so that no matter what may come our way, the authority and power of the blood will allow it to pass right on by us.
Simply ask God daily this:
Lord God, I know that you gave up your Son Jesus for me to have joy, peace and eternal life. I ask that today you cover me, my family and my friends in the blood of my Savior Jesus Christ that was shed for me. I thank you for this blood that will give me the power to handle what ever comes my way. In Jesus name I pray, AmenâŠ..
You can pray this prayer over any situation that is happening in your life with faith and trust that God will work it out!
Exodus 12:50-51; So the people of Israel followed all the Lordâs instructions to Moses and Aaron. And that very day the Lord began to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt, division by division.
Ephesians 1:6-7; So we praise God for the wonderful kindness he has poured out on us because we belong to his dearly loved Son. He is so rich in kindness that he purchased our freedom through the blood of his Son, and our sins are forgiven.
Colossians 1:14; God has purchased our freedom with his blood and has forgiven all our sins.
Be blessed by His Word,
