I’m a 16 year old female addicted to sexual things.

I live in a Christian home and can’t find the courage to talk to my parents.  I really need to STOP VIEWING these things. Even though I’m still a virgin I feel like I’m not.  I want to save all of myself for my husband one day.  I want to be whole for him.  I don’t want to know things that I do. I want to experience things with him.   I need your help to stop this.  I’ve kept telling myself I’ll stop, but I just keep on going back to it. I feel sick and guilty.  Please help me. I’m tired of this. I keep praying, but I just keep on doing things that I know I shouldn’t.

Help me please!!!

Thank you for writing in and entrusting us with your situation.

May our Lord give me His wisdom to help speak the words you need to hear. Let me assure you that you are NOT alone in your situation.

Temptation is something that everyone faces. The awesome part for us, as Christians, is that we have the Spirit of the Living God residing in us, guiding and leading us, warning us, encouraging us, and empowering us in our daily lives. God’s Spirit and His grace, unmerited favor, equip us to live successful Christian lives; so we DON’T have to be enslaved to our sinful desires. We CAN overcome, just like Jesus did, by the Word of God. Start getting into the Word of God like you have never before.  Read daily and really mediate on His Word. Look up scriptures on whatever situation you are facing so that you can renew your mind in those areas and be equipped to face every situation.

You are fighting temptation, and battling with your sin nature; so read up on these things. I would suggest you start in the book of Romans. I love this book, especially Romans chapters 6-8 because they revealed to me that I did NOT have to be a slave to sin any more. As a new creation in Christ, we are “new” whether we feel like it or not.  After we have surrendered our lives to Jesus, we are a new creation.  Any place where you are not surrendered to Christ, this is usually the place where you will have the most problems.  You are trying to do life on your own, in your own strength, and in your own way. God created us to have fellowship with Him throughout our daily lives.

If you have not surrendered your life to Christ Jesus, then follow this link and read our post, ‘Be Saved Now!’:

If you have received Christ, then understand that God did not just save you from hell, but He saved you from the power of sin. WE CHOOSE who we will make our master, God or our sin nature. Look at these few verses out of Romans chapter 6:

Verse 16 – “Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.”

Verse 19 – “Because of the weakness of your human nature, I am using the illustration of slavery to help you understand all this. Previously, you let yourselves be slaves to impurity and lawlessness, which led ever deeper into sin. Now you must give yourselves to be slaves to righteous living so that you will become holy.”

You have a choice to allow yourself to keep submitting to these sexual desires or to resist them by the power of the Holy Spirit and the grace of God.  You DO NOT have to do this life in your own strength. He is the one that will help you.

Make sure that you throw away books, magazines, and movies that provoke this temptation. Tell someone close to you like your mom, friend, youth leader, a Christian you really trust, what you are going through.  Ask them to help hold you accountable.  Here’s a ministry that may be able to help you where you’re at, it’s called Dirty Girls, here’s their link:

Dirty Girls Ministries is a Christian anti-pornography ministry created to help women struggling with pornography addiction. Founded by author and speaker Crystal Renaud in February of 2009, Dirty Girls Ministries launched as a marketing and research website about women and pornography addiction.

Of course you can always write back into us and we will be glad to encourage you. We love you and many of us understand what you are going through, you’re not alone. No matter what any of us here have been through or are presently going through, ALL of us will tell you that we overcome by the “blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony”.

The power of God will work in your live through the Word of God, prayer, faith, your brothers and sister in Christ Jesus, and by the grace of God.

Take some time and read some of these other posts on temptation.

Your Temptation Isn’t Anything New or Different

Temptation Are Daily Battle

Also here is a whole category on sinning and temptation from my personal blog, Consecrated to Him, that I think will help you also.

Don’t beat yourself up about this.  You are already winning the battle because you have acknowledged there is a problem and you are searching for the Truth. Just don’t give up and don’t give in.  Run to the throne of God where Jesus stands interceding for you. Pray and resist the temptation. I will be praying for you.
